Dr. Barnes was born and raised in St Louis. He attended St. Louis University, earned his medical degree at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Barnes became board certified in family medicine in 1999 and has been in practice for over 20 years. He opened Advanced Family Medicine and Wellness Center in 2010.
