Dr. Koopman is a fellowship-trained endourologist with privileges at NorthShore Swedish Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital and Amita St. Francis Hospital. He graduated from Princeton University and completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed an internship and urology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, as well as a two-year fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Koopman practices general urology and specializes in a variety of areas, which include complex surgical and medical management of stone disease, laparoscopic and robotic management of both benign and malignant urologic disease processes, including robotic/laparoscopic prostatectomy, cystectomy, nephrectomy, and partial nephrectomy. Dr. Koopman has contributed to several book chapters on the management of stone disease and the use of molecular targeted imaging strategies in the staging of kidney cancer.
